Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Rom 15:7-8
Mother Teresa once said "There are no great acts. There are only small acts done with great love." What small acts can you do today to deepen the bonds between you and the people you value the most? What random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty can you offer to them to show them that you truly cherish them? The irony of being more loving and compassionate is that the very loving actions makes you feel rejuvenated for doing them. The Bible puts it this way: "He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Prov 11:25
To practice being more loving, create a love account. Each day, make a few deposits in this very special reserve by doing something small to add joy to the life of someone around you. Give them a blessing. Encourage them with an affrmation. Write them a note of thanks. Say something that will build them up. Show little acts of love.
If there is one thing I have learnt in life is that the little things are the truly big things. These tiny, daily deposits of saying it now, showing it now and sharing it now will go a long way for the withdrawals you would need to make in the future. And it will give you far more joy than any amount of money in your bank account.
Emerson said it so eloquently, "Without the rich heart, wealth is an ugly beggar." Or as Tolstoy wrote, "The means to gain happiness is to throw out for oneself like a spider in all directions an adhesive web of love, and to catch in all that comes."
The Bible commands us in 1 Peter 1:22 "Love one another fervently with a pure heart." That kind of loving comes with doing small acts of love and doing them NOW!
